Ki te Aotūroa
Ki te Aotūroa (INSTEP) is a ground-breaking set of learning materials for inservice teacher educators (ISTEs).
The brief
INSTEP was a two-year research and development project on the professional practice and learning of ISTEs. Within the project, Learning Media was awarded one of 12 national contracts with the Ministry of Education to conduct research around the Literacy Professional Development Project. Also, a staff member was seconded to the Ministry as a senior adviser on INSTEP, with the key role of developing a set of learning materials based on the learning from the project.
Our solution
The Learning Media national facilitators within INSTEP, and the seconded senior adviser, made a critical contribution to the project and to the resulting learning materials. The result is a cutting-edge resource (book, DVD, and website) designed to support professional practice and ongoing improvement within the inservice teacher education sector. The resource provides a theoretical basis for ISTE practice, six case studies, guidance on conducting inquiry, and a theory of improvement for ISTEs.
