Learning Media's professional development team designs and manages literacy and
assessment training programmes for New Zealand schools and teachers.

We designed the national Literacy Professional Development Project and ran the programmes in primary schools for six years. Read reports on its key outcomes.
We are now providing workshops on implementing the National Standards. These workshops will focus on implementing the reading and writing standards and will build on your knowledge of effective literacy classroom practice and effective literacy leadership in order to improve student outcomes. These workshops and the flexible response are part of the Ministry of Education’s Professional Development Plan for the implementation of the National Standards.
As publisher of many of New Zealand's school resources, we are continually building our research, skill, and knowledge bases.
In partnership with the New Zealand Council for Educational Research and Auckland University, we research the outcomes of our current projects to inform further development of these and other projects.

In our project schools we encourage teachers to actively question their practice, to examine their beliefs about teaching and learning, and to monitor the impact of new practice on their students' achievement.
