Learning Media convenes debate on education gaming at US conference
Learning Media CEO David Glover will be convening a panel of leading educational gamers from around the world – including New Zealand’s MiniMonos.com – at a major US conference in Washington on 8 June. The conference is the annual summit of the Association of Educational Publishing (AEP), an organisation of nearly 400 print and digital publishers. This year’s conference focuses on Content in Context and brings top minds in education research and pedagogy together with cutting-edge platform developers.
David Glover, an AEP Board member, will moderate the discussion between three leaders of best practices in education gaming – Kaila Colbin, from MiniMonos, a virtual world and online gaming site developed in New Zealand for ‘green’ kids; Willem-Jan Renger, from Utrecht in the Netherlands, whose focus is on designing education and training models for today’s ‘digital native’ youth; and Scott Traylor, from Boston-based digital development and consulting firm, 360Kid.
Learning Media’s own most recent digital educational tool, Strategy Zone, an interactive whiteboard resource supporting literacy skill and comprehension strategy development, is one of two finalists in the ‘whiteboard application’ section of the AEP’s Distinguished Achievement Technology Awards. The winners will be announced at the conference banquet on 8 June.
Learning Media has recently augmented its own digital capability with the acquisition of CWA New Media, a company specialising in online education and digital development.
