Learning Media and the New Zealand Ministry of Education
Learning Media is a state-owned enterprise that has its origins in the
School Publications department of the New Zealand Ministry of Education.
Learning Media works closely with the Ministry of Education to fulfil its mission to raise students’ achievement and reduce disparity. A Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2005 underpins our relationship.
Learning Media develops, designs, publishes, and distributes classroom resources on behalf of the Ministry of Education. Some of the resources are online or have online teachers’ notes.
In New Zealand, these resources are generally provided free to schools by the Ministry of Education.
The Ministry of Education catalogue contains items schools can order.
Our Professional Development team creates and implements some of the Ministry’s key professional development programmes.
