Who we are

CWA is a digital media unit that employs teams of specialists. We began working with the Ministry of Education over 14 years ago, producing video resources. As the Internet matured, we developed into a multimedia and web services company with over 40 staff. We now provide enterprise-level website design, development, and hosting services and continue to produce core content, using text, images, video, and interactive media to support public sector goals.

We continue to work closely with the Ministry of Education and have developed successful working relationships with other government agencies, such as the Ministry of Science and Innovation, the Ministry for Culture and Heritage, the Ministry of Health, Science New Zealand, and Television New Zealand. We also host and develop websites for clients such as the New Zealand Blood Service, the Nursing Council, and the Health Sponsorship Council, to name a few.

A Part of Learning Media

In 2011, CWA became part of state-owned enterprise Learning Media. CWA and Learning Media have a complementary knowledge and understanding of publishing in the public sector. They bring together their core strengths in the publishing of effective, engaging resources based on innovative learning design.

As evidenced in our work, there is a strong commitment to an inclusive and multicultural society in New Zealand. Learning Media and CWA currently deliver print and online publications in English, Māori, and a variety of Pasifika and other community languages.

Our teams

Our teams include business and technical analysts, graphic designers, front- and back-end programmers and developers, systems administrators, content editors, project managers, and subject matter experts in areas such as education, health, te reo Māori and tikanga a iwi, and Pasifika language and culture. We provide a range of services:

Our project management methodology

Our project managers follow Agile and PRINCE2 methodologies. Our experience of working extensively in the public sector means that we understand the need for transparent reporting and close financial management during a project’s lifespan. We know how to adapt and tailor project management approaches, ensuring the methodology suits the nature of the project and the client’s needs.

Networks and relationships

We have strong networks with external specialists. This enables us to draw on additional expertise if needed to meet the specific requirements of individual projects.

Working face to face and virtually

While based in Wellington, we work with clients throughout New Zealand. We routinely operate a virtual workforce using Web 2.0 tools, such as desktop and mobile videoconferencing and shared workspaces.
